Edge of Love

I went to cheap movie night at the Ritz Wednesday and I saw "Edge of Love" about the loves of Dylan Thomas.  The movie was okay, but I loved the costumes.  Especially the scenes in Wales where Kiera Knightley and Sienna Miller wear pretty floral dresses with chunky wool sweaters and socks with wellies.

The Powder and the Glory

I got a Clinique bonus yesterday and later watched a great documentary on PBS called "The Powder and the Glory" about Helena Rubenstein and Elizabeth Arden.  Though rivals, these two amazing women pioneered the make-up industry and had thriving businesses even during the great depression.  If it wasn't for them, I might not have my three step system!

in the details

I want to make a dress for my friend's May wedding. Something special to make it appear to all of my high school friends and acquaintances that my degree is actually useful.  The thing is, I need it to be long to cover what you may refer to as "cankles" but I often refer to my legs as tree stumps.  I would absolutely love something short, but it simply wont do.  I am looking to some of 3.1's details for inspiration...
I adore this fishtail/ruching effect, but think I may be a little too curvy for all fo that fabric. Thoughts?
if only I had the Louboutins to go with...

"I die!"

dying over this textile hanging by ritva puotila via my daily read design sponge.
grace said it reminded her of a dress from sex in the city, but I immediately thought of one of my all time favorite McQueen creations which I saw once at the Met.the famous oyster dress, inspired by shipwrecks, if I remember correctly

Mask

so lizz over at material concern just posted about the bizarre Bazaar fashion spread with the person dressed in a bunny suit.  When we got the mag in the store and I was flipping through it during my lunch break, i can't remember if i liked it or not.  But what I do remember thinking was "whats up with the animal mask trend"...

Farm living is the life for me

i need a table for my work room and I am in love with this antique butcher table found on ebay...
its a lot pricey for me, but i thought it would go great in my parents new old 1840s farm house, so I went to email my mom about it immediately
my mom in front of the barn with her kentucky coon hound, Cleytus

and in my inbox was an email from Warsaw about the new website...
and its totally beautiful!!!
All of the barn photos are making me crave farm life.  In fact, its been a long time since I've been to my friend Dustin's amazing 100 acre farm in Kentucky.

Maybe its a sign I should take a trip there instead of the desert.

Recent Purchases

ugh...skottles and my personal economic situation is just as bad as the nation's.  However, I've really been wanting a rug for a long time to put in our living area.  Though I've been holding out for a persian from ebay, which can be pretty cheep as it is, I finally caved to this sale rug from urban for only $30.

I also got these high rise black jeans.  Due to my short & stout stature, they pretty much look like mom jeans on me, but hey, they're super comfortable and there's no risk of muffin top.

I'v been through the desert...

i want a vacation. scott and I have been reminiscing about the desert...

Gryphon Blog

I really wanted to post some good pics for the Gryphon posting from the other week, but a google search didn't give me any immediate results. Well, after some more searching I finally found their website, along with a link to their blog. It gives a behind the scenes look at what goes on in their company. cool.

above is a pic from their blog of their booth at coterie, where I fell in love with the line. sadly, the shots on the models on the site don't do the line justice!

Thurston Moore drinks from the fountain of (Sonic) Youth?

I've been wanting to post this ever since I saw Thurston Moore at the International House about a month ago. I now thought it was appropriate since I just posted about Kim Gordon's line for UO.

Anyway, I saw Thurston Moore in the lobby of the IHOP, except I was sure it wasn't him because I was sure it was a 27 year old that was just trying to look like Thurston Moore. But then when I went in to watch the show, I realized it really had been him.

anyway, thats my story. I just still can't get over how young he looks for 50! thats right, 50!

Mirror/Dash

Kim Gordon designs Mirror/Dash line for Urban Outfitters?

ehh, I'll wear the t-shirt dress I guess

PS its funny that Kim was inspired by Franscoise Hardy... she was the inspiration behind the project I did when I interviewed with UO

Chocolate

Lets face it, one of my greatest loves is chocolate. I've decided Dolfin is one of my favorite brands.
